Want to potty train your child in 3 days? Here’s what you need to do

how to potty train in 3 daysThere’s so much stuff online on how to potty train your child, tips for potty training boys, girls, twins, etc. that it makes me wonder why so many parents struggle with this step of raising their child. Let’s take for instance the 3 day potty training method with all the different versions of it. So… how to potty train in three days?

I’ll tell you from my own personal experience as a mother of 2 that what’s essential to having success in toilet training your toddler is the planning you do before you start. This is even more important if you want to finish everything in 3 days.

What does planning mean?

Well, you need to have everything prepared and you need to be ready for whatever thing might pop up. Ask yourself what will you do if you have to leave the house, or if other people will come over, how will you deal with accidents and so on.

When I potty trained my first child, Markus, I took him shopping. We bought underwear, a potty, reward stickers and charts, we even bought toys I used as rewards.

When we bought the potty, we went for a potty seat. It was actually him who picked which one we should buy. To think about it I don’t know if it would have been easier if we had bought a potty chair but it all worked out for the best. You need to decide, I mean let your child decide – potty seat or potty chair?

The potty is where everything needs to happen so it’s a very important part of the whole training process. If you go with a potty seat or insert make sure it’s sturdy and sits securely on the toilet seat. You do not want your child to accidentaly fall of because you’ll never get him or her to sit on it again, ever.

If you got that part taken care of, next it’s time to schedule the 3 days in which the training process will take place. Avoid holidays, or if your child is sick, or if you have a newborn. These are all days in which you won’t have enough time to fully dedicate yourself to only showing your toddler how to pee and poop in the potty.

Once you set 3 days in your calendar, think of activities you can do with your child during the day. You need to be with him or her the whole day to observe how he acts when he needs to go so that eventually you’ll know to put him on the potty before anything happens.

Don’t use diapers, only big boy underwear. Even if accidents happen and you’ll be tempted to go back to diapers, don’t.

There’s a couple more things you need to take into consideration, that’s why I found this 3 day potty training video that goes deeper into this method of toilet training boys and girls. Just make sure you watch it until the end.

Toilet train your little one is easy if you have the right information to start with, and finding the right information is even easier if you know where to look.
